Our cities are overcrowded and bursting at their seams. Human beings are under stress and most resources stretched. Under these conditions, the plight of stray animals gets very little attention.
Street Animals Welfare Society was born out of intense love and compassion of one person who felt moved by the plight of street animals and decided to do something about it. What started out as a small initiative to feed stray dogs in the neighbourhood, soon turned into a larger mission of feeding, rescue, rehabilitation and care.SAWS operates in the South Delhi, but its connections and collaboration are across the city with other organizations and shelters.
We arrange for rescue of injured or sick animals. Our area of operation is South Delhi but we are not limited to it. If you see an animal in distress, please call us on +91 981 058 3072.
Depending on the condition, we get the animals treated. We are associated with a number of veterinary hospitals and doctors.
SAWS feeds nearly 100 strays in and around South Delhi. We ensure that they get a nutritious meal at least once a day. Meals are served on old newspapers which are collected and thrown in the dustbins to ensure no littering.
We facilitate sterilization of male and female dogs to ensure population control of strays. Similarly, we also undertake vaccination of puppies and dogs to keep them healthy and free of diseases.
We help with arranging of foster homes for rescued and/or abandoned animals. We also work for adoption of strays to give them a fur-ever homes.
One of the focus areas for SAWS is to work with children and young adults to educate them about the issues of stray animals and sensitize them to treat them well. We also work with RWAs to ensure that stray dogs are taken care of and there are lesser incidents of aggression and violence against them.
Your support helps SAWS feed over 200 strays every day. We also look after their health, vaccinations and neutering / spaying. Your funds also help us pay for boarding of really sick and traumatized pets as well as transportation of animals to hospitals, boarding, fosters or shelters
DONATEThere are a lot of activities underway at SAWS. There are medical emergencies, calls for collecting strays and taking them for treatment. We always welcome assistance in terms of your time and effort.
VOLUNTEERThere is no nobler act than opening your home and heart to a defenceless and lonely stray. They are always grateful for your love and generosity and make the most loving pets. Don’t buy dogs from breeders, they exploit and abuse poor animals and use them as puppy mills. Even if you cannot adopt them on a permanent basis, please foster them for a short while.

The SAWS team brings miracles to life. Leave anything to their hands and you’re sure to remain Un afraid. The years of experience of members at SAWS coupled with selfless devotion raises the pedestal of NGOs in the country. Whether it’s their contribution to sterilisation of community dogs or the rescue operation of an animal, one couldn’t think of a better place, or a better team as the voice of the voiceless.
I can personally vouch for the commitment and love that the volunteers of SAWS have towards our street babies. Extremely dedicated and pro-active , they single handily have managed to drive the initiative of the well-being of all our colony dogs. The kind of passion and devotion they have is extremely rare and hence SAWS has all our support. With SAWS, their kindness and compassion will have a wider reach and wish them all the best in this noble endeavour.
“A rescuers most selfless quality is to make room to save another, regardless of how it hurts to say goodbye” I am touched beyond words to see the tireless and selfless work that is being done by the members of SAWS. I see these women who are working full time, have household responsibilities and families and still without ever giving a thought for their own comfort, they rush to rescue a street animal in distress. Be it an animal with maggot wounds or a dog that’s bleeding and has been run over by a car, they just physically get into action and pick the animal up in their own car and rush them to the hospital with subsequent follow ups and treatment.
Thank you SAWS, for giving Magic a new lease to life. Who would have thought that this little one month old that was run over by a car would not only survive but run around like she was competing in a Marathon.. Many vets had said that her leg should be amputated or she should be put to sleep as it was impossible for her leg to heal, but you never gave up and without so much as giving much thought to the cost involved , you gave her a chance to life. We are so happy that we adopted Magic. She has brought so much love and laughter to our home.
I would like to acknowledge the commendable work done by SAWS. They are taking care of feeding so many dogs in our area, getting them sterilised and tending to them when they are sick. Thank you.
A little one and half month old puppy was brutally run over by a car. The femur bone of one of the hind limbs had popped out.She needed immediate surgery. We took her
